Shall we do the obvious and get the credentials out the way first eh? How old are you, how long have you been Skating, and how’d you get into it?
I’m 16 I’ve been skating for almost a year, I got into it by watching youtube, and just found it fun.
Seems like you’ve been on one of late, hence getting SOM! You working on anything at the mo like a skate edit?
Yeah! my mates and I are trying to make a video, but were gonna get a bit better before we make it, so it will be more entertaining… for the small small audience ha ha.
After almost landing a few flip tricks, I want to get them on lock and send them off stuff, hence the video name ‘Hauling ass’, hopefully it all goes to plan.

I’m glad people see the progress, sometimes commitment is so against me, but when I get over it I can land it nearly all the time.
How do you feel about having a local skater owned shop in Hull?
It is great as the community can grow easier, it’s more hands on having a physical store, rather than just ordering online…
It gives opportunity to host socials at the store, as well as events and jams in the future around the city.
I guess we’ve always been here since you started, but it was barren for years with no actual hub for people.
Yeah… I can’t imagine how hard it was for the skate comunity to flourish prior… now we have Quay people can meet there and get hyped!
Well, that is exactly why I opened Quay, when I was 15/16 I used to get the bus into Hull every Saturday, and sometimes in the week from Hornsea! Just to go to the local ‘Four Down’ I met so many cool people and had the best times, this is what I wanted to do for the community now.
That is what it is all about! I think people enjoy the community more than the skating most of the time in my opinion, it brings people together and you get to have a laugh, which is important.
