Right dude, let’s get the low down, full name and when did you get into skating?

Hello, my name is Louie Bywood.

I've been skating for around a decade, beginning when my next door neighbour was throwing out a skateboard which I used to start learning - cruising to the shop, grasping skateboard physics etc.

I'd skate town as I got older and made friends with Matt and Luke, who introduced me to West Park and the developing scene there.

Rad, so been at it a while then!

So where do you Skate then the most in Hull?

I skate West a lot, as it is a good place to socialise with other learning skaters and make friends with other people, in turn improving my own skating through my mates and I pushing ourselves together.

Yeah it is a good central point for meeting people, and good vibes for sure!

So what are your go too tricks then, and what is your style so to speak, big stairs, tech or rails etc.?

My best tricks are Nollie Bigflip, Nollie Blizzard, Nollie Tre. My best grinds are 50, Smith, and Tail.

Different styles have always kept my interest in the sport fresh and finding and refining my own signature style has been a drive in improving my own skating for so many consecutive years.

Sounds like a heavy bag of tricks and good idea of how you perceive skating!

So you was back at this years ‘King of the city’ for Go Skateboarding Day, how did it go?

Yeah it was a great day lovely weather, and I think the vibes were right and everyone was supporting each other.

I felt that day was a day to execute some tricks I had up my sleeve, and connect with the community in Hull.

Did you like this year’s format where everyone skated together this time?

Yeah, I think it gave chance for people at different skill levels to combat the challenges together, and figure it out together.

Yeah my thoughts exactly, seemed to work well, but always room for adjustments!

So I hear you’re a top DJ, how did you get into that dude?

Grew up in a household that was always drowned in music. My mum is a mad music nut, always has been. She bought me my first vinyl decks at 16, purely so she could live her childhood dream of becoming a DJ through me, I think haha. Taught myself over the years, developed a mad love and respect for it and the scene. Couldn't imagine not doing it now. Got some decent gigs coming up that I'm super stoked for.

Sounds super dope that man, like a first or second love, same with me and my martial arts.

Always good to have something else going on alongside other hobbies, keeps them fresh I think!

Skateboarding has always been my main passion, and through that I found my own music with it and my mum had a big influence as well, she used to take me skating when I was younger often on her roller skates, and she would show me band and DJs, who she used to skate to and them 2 worlds merged overtime.
