Quay ‘Skater Of The Month’ March 2026 - Callum Palmer

  1. Okay let’s get the low down, stats please, name, age, how long have you been skating?

Callum Palmer. I’m 17 and I’d say officially a year and a half but my interest sparked long before then, by seeing skaters on my local park.

  1. How did you get into skating then?

I picked it up during my time going to high school in town (I switched during year 10). Although I didn’t have a board of my own for a while and was just using other people’s on occasion, so one day In year 11 I traded my Nintendo for an enuff deck.

Looking back on it that was a mistake. I miss that Nintendo. I loved the board though it sits on my wall today.

  1. Oh wow, so you’re really good for the short time you’ve been skating then! Rad.

Ha ha, but at least with the board you’re outdoors with friends getting exercise and fresh air right?

Since I first got out on my board with my mates it has been quite religious since then, devoting as much time possible to skating, I believe it’s become apart of my character in general and I find it a good outlet for any struggles or if I just want to go have a good time. It definitely keeps me in good health, on a good session I’d look at 7-10 hours skating, it’s a good workout!

  1. What you doing at the moment? Work? College?

Currently I’m at college studying engineering full time, and have a job as a calibration technician two days of the week. Any time in between you’ll find me skating.

  1. Good work mate, so what do you plan to do with this? Like what side of engineering do you want to go into?

Career wise I have a few things in mind but because of how time consuming they will be I’m still putting thought into it.

Renewable energy, an apprenticeship with Siemens or mulhiem would be my first answer or civil engineering at university with a placement, possibly look at starting a firm designing parts which I’ve found is one of my strong suits.

But in an ideal world I’m doing crazy shit on the front page of Thrasher.

  1. Seems like you have got your head screwed on then! Always good to have a back up plan dude!

Ha ha yeah getting on Thrasher is pretty heavy, did you see the Parallel video on there? Good to see Hull spots on Thrasher!

Yess I did ‘The Great Yorkshire Coast’ was a very well put together part by the way, and  I thoroughly enjoyed the premier at Dive.

I think it’s great Scott palmer is apart of it as well!

  1. Definitely, Scott is the best and not bad having a new Scott Palmer Part out there too is it!

For sure very inspiring to see him smash it!!

  1. What do you think about the local shop then, are you stoked to have a skater owned store in town?

I think the shop is a pillar of the skating community in Hull, it’s often I see people with the same interests and lifestyle gathered there or brought together by Quay. Which makes our community strong and I have much appreciation for that! And a new indoor coming to Hull? Amazing!!
