Now then Jack hows it going?

I am doing good thanks!

You’ve been skating hard of late, and you always have rad energy when we meet! Are you stoked on being our December Skater of the month?

Yeah I can't wait to be skater of the month, honoured to be chosen!

Tell us a bit about yourself? How old are you, what do you do? And how long have you been skating?

I am 19, I skate when I have free time after work, do a bit of gaming & I have been skating 3 years in total, however I took a year out.

What got you into skating?

I have a local skate spot, and seeing other people skate as well, is what got me Into skating mainly.

How do you find the Hull & East Yorkshire scene?

The skate scene in Hull has got a lot bigger, and the skating community are very welcoming.

Who are the usual mates you go skate with? I know Liam is one right? Sound guy he is.

I always skate with Liam, he has got some good tricks, but is the best at getting smashed in by the board.

Yeah Liam has had a few savage injuries hasn’t he, have you had any bad ones?

I sprained my foot about 3 weeks ago…

Are you stoked on Hull having a Skate shop again? What did you think when you came to the shop for the first time?

I am stoked about Hull having a skate shop again, just what we all needed!

The first time I visited, I loved the lay out and all the rad decks on display.

Thanks glad you like the shop dude! What do you think to the location? We think it is pretty cool in a community building with bands on etc. nice mix up of people here!

Location is prefect, very close to skate spots, close to town and easy to walk too.

Not like your traditional shop in town, but they don’t survive these days with the expensive rent, and lack of retail footfall. We noticed this with other shops so had to think a little differently.

Most shops don't last long in this climate, because they have to they sell their stuff really expensive to keep the shop open… due to rising rent and overheads.

With Quay located where it is, it can keep the operational costs low, in turn giving more options for skaters budgets from what I’ve seen! For example the loyalty program and discount programs.

Cheers, we’re definitely trying to think about the scene and keep everyone involved, that was the whole reason for opening, to have that sense of being apart of something.

Yeah for sure! Quay is always so welcoming, giving out free drinks, putting on events, having loyalty programs etc. this is what skaters can feel apart of.

Right mate let’s wrap this up! Cheers for being Quay Skater of the month!

No worries, super hyped for it, can’t wait to be skater of the month, thanks!
