Quay ‘Skater Of The Month’ May - Ben Wordsworth

  1. Now then Ben, hows it going?

Going good thanks!

  1. Are you hyped to be Quay skater of the month for May?

Yes very hyped so happy recently losing a bit of motivation, so this has definitely helped to start thinking creatively again and get out there and skate.

  1. Rad, glad this has give you a bit of a boost dude, that is why we do it! You have been shredding hard anyhow so thought it was only right to ask you.

Thank you appreciate it, yeah definitely needed it man!

Backside Flip - West

  1. So do us the low down, how old are you, what do you do? And how did you get into Skateboarding dude?

I’m 20 and not doing anything at the moment, skatings my full time “profession” ha ha.

  1. Ha ha, fair enough! Any ideas for work or college then etc.?

I’ll do just about anything to be honest, getting very desperate I must say!

  1. Nice! That is similar to how I started but with the Tony Hawks games, and yes best decision!

Only played Tony Hawk’s Underground, which was the demo on 360, but yeah I enjoyed it!

  1. What do you think to having a local shop in Hull now?

Definitely an improvement! and a much needed addition to the city finally not having to pay for delivery especially is an improvement ha ha!

Also, with it being in a rarely central location, and near one of my favourite parks (West) if something goes wrong, there it’s an easy quick skate/walk there.

Heel Flip - West

  1. Yes that is a bonus I guess not having to pay delivery! Love people popping in and having a chat, nice to meet different people!

Definitely is ha! Love being able to just pop in whenever, even when you’re not open, you will open up for people!

  1. Do you think it is important for us to have a local skater owned store?

100% it’s important as with a local they know of the history of the skate scene in the city, and it also gives a more personal feel to the shop as you have been a big part of the skate scene in Hull.

  1. For sure, I know all the spots and can give good advice to everyone! I like hooking it up for you all ha ha!

I think I speak for everyone in the city, when I say we appreciate it massively!

  1. I guess with just shopping online you can’t get a feel for the products either, when you come in store you can see the products and get to stand on decks to feel if the shape is right.

Yeah for sure that’s a positive and being able to ask in person for advice there, instead of automated emails or something.

  1. Any plans for summer? Like trips etc.?

Been wanting to skate Selby for a while now but I think just travelling to new city’s and towns and parks and trying to be more confident skating new obstacles/areas etc.

Front 180 - West

  1. Travelling is one of the best parts, 100% recommend it dude! Get yourself out and about. Not skated the new Selby park yet either, let’s go!

Yeah man for sure! I’m down only really been to Sheffield and Manchester to skate, so a lot more to go yet!

  1. You know it mate, get yourself out there and meet people, skate some new stuff! Right let’s wrap this up here, thanks for doing this and enjoy being Quay ‘Skater of the month’ for May!

No problem! oh I will and thanks so much!
